Okay, maybe only in my world. I was trying to think of plays on words of Inspiration and the word Desk. All I could think of was Desperation. (Shocker). I’m trying to pile together images for my new office, and the desk/table/entryway set up. (I.E. making it look more like home).

Here’s the results..

Feeling inspired by these simple, but glamourous spaces lately. I love the contrast of bright colors, black and white graphic prints and stark white walls, lush carpets and faux fur. So inspiring.

I was talking to my mom on the phone the other night, and she came up with the most brilliant idea. Why not utilize my empty corner of my huge kitchen (it’s as big as my bedroom) in my apartment as an office? I had no need for a kitchen table and chairs, since I rarely have people over in the winter, and if it’s summer we eat outside on the porch. I could turn the desk facing out and use it as a table as well. I had already been pinning images of fancy offices on Pinterest and oogling West Elm’s Parsons desk for ages, and I realized I had an oak desk, slightly smaller but just as simple in size in their attic in NY. She offered to sand and paint it high gloss white, and I am going to tote it back to Boston with me when I go home for my birthday in rental. Score! This will serve three functions, and be free, leaving me lots of moolah for plane tickets, since that West Elm baby was $350. Ouch. This desk can be used as an entry way table in my hallway leading to my bathroom, should I decide to get a real parsons table, and I can put coffee table books, flowers and my jewelry tray, or use it in the kitchen as a desk and kitchen table. Awesome.

One of my lovely friends and fellow bloggers, Rachel is designing her nursery and her sweet baby boy, William will be here in just 12 weeks. I saw that she wanted a nice, neutral gray color, that would be soft and still appropriate should their family grow to a larger size. Immediately, I thought of Sherwin Williams Evening Shadow sw7662. It’s the perfect light gray, with a hint of blue. Nice, soft, and calming. Soothing. Baby.

I found this picture on a simple google search of the color, and although her nursery will have white and natural wood accents, it really compliments her crib skirt!

See what I did there? Snazzy, eh? Bookhou triangles are popping up everywhere. Seriously. Only this time, kids, DO try this at home. I love these graphic little triangles on bags, blankets, rugs, any kid of accent. A classic print that isn’t going anywhere.

Time to bring back one of my favorite columns from CreateH, Color Craving. This is where I draw inspiration, from Flickr, Blogpost, Pinterest, fellow bloggers, and the design blogosphere. Jen Ramos, from Made By Girl, has been featured here on CreateH before, and I see her abstract paintings for Made by Girl have launched a fury of pinners on Pinterest oogling abstract paint drabs. Of course, being the paint girl I am, I’m not only hypnotized by these drabs of paint and fabulous color combinations, but the art itself. I studied art history throughout high school and college, so this hits me at the heart of my passion for design. Without art, a room would never be complete. Maybe it’s just me, but I find that these abstract pieces are the perfect complement to any modern space, especially a fresh white space, graphic prints, like black and whites, chevron prints, and feminine details. I’m sure I’m a little late jumping on the whole grasscloth wallpaper trend. However, I’m always one for a dramatic ceiling. Whether that’s faux, dark paint, metallics, or yes, wallpaper, I’m hoarding images of grass cloth wallpaper on ceilings to pin later…and someday, when I actually have a real dining room and not just an eat-in kitchen, I’ll wallpaper the heck out of it. In the meantime, swoon over this gorgeous ceiling with me…
